Tours

The local ‘dolmus’ or bus is a great way to see the surrounding area. It is cheap and efficient but can often be crowded. The bus station is halfway between the upper and lower ends of the village. Buses to Mugla (the capital of the region) run every half hour.

Thursday is market day here and traders and produce-growers converge to sell their wares; it is a noisy and colourful display not to be missed. If this doesn’t appeal then why not visit Mugla’s Turkish bath or ‘hamam’ that is over 700 years old, the beautifully restored Ottoman houses or the local art centre.

The bustling seaside resort of Marmaris is another destination you can visit by dolmus. This is a shopper’s paradise with a covered bazaar housing hundreds of shops and stalls, all trying their very best to get you to part with your money. When you return you will truly appreciate the soothing and tranquil ambience of Akyaka!

If you prefer to venture further afield, organised tours can easily be arranged. For those who enjoy visiting historical sites, the wonders of Ephesus and Aphrodisias are breathtaking.

The more adventurous may prefer white-water rafting or a jeep safari. Other possibilities include the amazing rock formations of the Saklikent Gorge or Pamukkale.

There is a comprehensive brochure outlining in detail all the possible excursions in Akyaka and the surrounding area in each villa. Car rental is also available locally for those who wish to explore at their own pace.
